Shared Care Agreements

We would like to inform you that, effective immediately, our practice will no longer be participating in new shared care agreements. This decision means that we will not be taking on the responsibility for prescribing and monitoring medications that are typically managed through shared care arrangements between specialists and general practitioners.

After careful consideration, we have taken the decision that we are unable to enter into a shared care agreement for the following reasons:

Demand Issues: Many NHS GP surgeries, including ours, are currently facing significant workload. This makes it challenging to take on additional responsibilities that are not part of our core contracted services.

Safety Concerns: We have concerns about the safety and continuity of care when managing specialist medications, especially those initiated by private providers. Our practice does not have the necessary support or specialist skills that may be required for such cases who should be receiving specialist care.

What This Means for You:

  • Continuity of Care: If you are currently under a shared care agreement, please consult your specialist for ongoing management of your medication. They will continue to oversee your treatment and provide necessary prescriptions.
  • Medication Management: Specialist medication initiated by a specialist must be managed by them. We will not be able to prescribe or monitor particular medications moving forward.
  • Future Appointments: If you have any questions or need assistance regarding your treatment plan, we encourage you to reach out to your specialist directly.

We appreciate your understanding.

Our priority remains the safety and well-being of all our patients.
